Read Guide โ๐ญ What Kind of Game Is This โ And Why a Guide Matters
The Posthumous Investigation is a no-hand-holding deduction mystery. Unlike conventional adventure games, it provides no hint system, no objective markers, and no confirmations when you're on the right track. The game trusts you to think, and punishes passive play with looping confusion.
This design is intentional: developer Mother Gaia Studio built the experience around the literary tradition of Machado de Assis, where the narrator is unreliable and truth must be assembled from fragments. Every suspect lies. Every alibi is partial. The Thinking Board is your only anchor.
A guide doesn't diminish the experience here โ it clarifies the vocabulary of the game's systems so you can focus on the actual puzzle. Knowing how the loop resets, what counts as valid evidence, and how to read the Thinking Board's logic means you spend your loops investigating, not re-learning the interface.

โ Guide FAQ
Which guide should I read first?
Start with the Beginner's Guide if this is your first time playing. It covers core loop mechanics without story spoilers and sets you up for efficient early runs. Move to the Thinking Board guide once you've completed your first 2โ3 loops.
Will this guide spoil the story?
The Beginner's Guide, Time Loop guide, and Tips pages are written spoiler-free. The Endings Guide and parts of the Achievements guide contain story spoilers โ each page is clearly marked.
I'm stuck on the Thinking Board โ what do I do?
See our dedicated Thinking Board Guide. The most common issue is missing one connecting piece of evidence. Check that every clue node has at least two connections, and that your accusation node is linked to both a motive and an opportunity clue.
How do I unlock new dialogue options?
New dialogue branches unlock based on information gathered in previous loops โ not items in your inventory. If a conversation tree feels exhausted, complete a different suspect's thread and return. New knowledge from other interactions often unlocks previously locked responses.
Is there a new game plus or chapter select?
There is no traditional chapter select, but the loop system itself serves as a form of replay. After completing the game, you can start a new investigation and apply your full knowledge from the start, reaching the true ending much faster.
